Hello students! 

The Passive Voice

Welcome to this new activity from the English class.

In this activity we are going to talk about Passive Voice and Verbs. Why verbs? Well, because verbs are an important part in this topic. You have to learn the verbs by heart in its differents tenses (infinitive, past, past participle):

• Regular and Irregular Verbs  
• Passive Voice grammar
• When to use a passive
• How to form a passive in all the tenses

Remember this activity has to be done individually and has to be delivered the class before the first partial, if you do not delivery it after the partial you won't be able to present the exam.

Now I'm going to show you some activities that you have to answer to achieve the final goal of this project that is: Learn how to form and how to use the Passive Voice in all the tenses. 

Activity 1

Let's know more about Passive Voice, so let's watch the following video:

Besides you have to read this additional information in case you missed something. This link contains a more graphic explanation about the Passive Voice. Passive Voice Explanation. 

Now with all this information you are going to use the tool 'How to do a concept map' and individually you are going to do a map with the main points about Passive Voice. You have enough information to do a well-organized map. 

When you have your concept map done:

• Create the concept map and uploaded in dropbox
• Post it in your blog and comment the map of one of your classmates.   
• Bring the map to the class to explain it

Take into account that you have until next Friday at 11:59 to upload the map in dropbox, post it in your blog and make a comment to one of you classmates. How are you going to post it? Easy, when you have finished your map save it as a picture and then upload the picture to your blog.

Also it's important to bring your concept map the previous class of the exam to explain it in front of your classmates.

You have to print and answer the exercise below. Remember how to use the Passive Voice and the verbs.

In this activity you have to answer the following crossword with the correct past participle of the verbs. Remember that there are two different sorts of verbs: Regular & Irregular.

Finally you have to post a comment in this blog about your general experience with this activity and explain what do you think about using these apps to study any topic.

Conclusion

To end this project in the previous class before the exam you have to bring your conceptual map because you are going to explain it and give a little feedback about the topic.

A TRIP TO JALAPA

INTRODUCTION

Are you planning to travel? Do you want a cultural and natural place full of fun where you can go with family or friends? Jalapa has the best places for different interests. Where do you have to go in Jalapa? What can you do? What can you see?

TASK

You have to make a tour guide with all the places that you cannot missed as a tourist in Jalapa. You have to consider that all the places can be for all ages and different tastes.

You are going to form three teams of 4 people and two teams with 5 people. You are going to a research, prepare and present the work.

1. You have to investigate the cultural and entertainment aspects in Jalapa to visit with family, friends, etc. in the day or at night.

2. Do a writing in which you mention at least 10 places. You have to include: places to go with family, parks, gastronomy, accommodation, cultural places, night life, etc.

3. You have to you summarize the information and record a DVD with a length between 10 and 15 minutes.

4. The dead line to present the DVD to the class is on Friday 20th. 
5. This work is going to count in your final grade.

The DVD is going to be assessed according the next points:

• Content: locations, updated information, schedule of the places showed.
• Expression: grammar, vocabulary, fluency.
• Creativity: the way in which you are going to present the video.

After you see all the teams’ videos, you have to post in the blog any comment about something new that you have learnt.

Tecnología para educar.

Hoy en día la educación se ha ido transformando de estar trabajando en el aula, oficina, etc.; a trabajar desde casa, otra ciudad, etc.; la distancia ya no es una barrera para que la información se trasmita. Con tantos avances en la tecnología que han ayudado tanto a estudiantes como a maestros cada vez se crean más programas, estrategias, material, aplicaciones, websites, entre otras cosas para ayudarnos a impartir una clase o a los alumnos a investigar sobre cualquier tema.

Desde mi punto de vista el internet es una de las herramientas más importantes con la que se cuenta en estos momentos, ya que podemos obtener información sobre cualquier tema. Es aquí donde es importante enseñar a los alumnos a realizar uno búsqueda satisfactoria, ya que muchas veces solo buscan información por buscar y suele ser información repetida, sin sentido porque muchas veces copian y pegan y  no se dan ni cuenta de lo que copiaron, por eso es importante que se les enseñe a buscar de manera correcta y concreta. Otra característica de suma importancia del internet es que ha logrado romper la barrera de la distancia hasta cierto punto, podemos comunicarnos con amigos, familiares, etc.; que no están muchas veces cerca y ha avanzado tanto la tecnología que no solo podemos escucharlos sino también verlos en las llamadas videollamadas.

Por otro lado es importante reconocer que con tantos avances muchas veces los alumnos ya tienen información acerca de muchas cosas diferentes y hay ocasiones en las que ha uno como maestro nos enseñan cosas nuevas, por la simple razón de que están más enfocados en los avances tecnológicos. Un aspecto que considero de suma importancia es el cambio que se dio de la web 1.0 a la web 2.0. En la web 1.0 no se permitían hacer cambios a la información y en la web 2.0 cualquiera puede hacer cambios en la información y esto es muy importante e interesante porque de esta manera no solo colabora una persona sino varias. Otra herramienta con la que podemos trabajar para hacer nuestra sesión más dinámica es el uso de los blogs, que son espacios en los cuales podemos escribir sobre cualquier tema agregar links, videos, imágenes, entre otras cosas para enriquecer la información o compartir alguna actividad.

Por último es muy importante tomar en cuenta que la información ahora esta tan a la mano que existen diferentes dispositivos como la laptop, los móviles, las tabletas electrónicas, cámaras de video o fotográficas, etc. que podemos usar para navegar en internet y buscar información. Particularmente considero que es muy útil conocer las herramientas nuevas con las que podemos contar y no estancarnos en los métodos de antes, ya que todo está en constante evolución y no puede uno estancarse, de lo contrario es  más difícil avanzar.

PHRASAL VERBS

Phrasal verbs are mainly used in spoken English and informal texts. (The more formal a conversation or text, the less phrasal verbs are found.)

Phrasal verbs are usually two-word phrases consisting of verb + adverb or verb + preposition. E. g.

     * Look up – consult a reference book (look a word up in a dictionary)

     * Look for – seek (look for her ring)

     * Look forward – anticipate with pleasure (look forward to meeting someone)

There are no rules that might explain how phrasal verbs are formed correctly - all you can do is look them up in a good dictionary and study their meanings.

THE DIFFICULTY OF PHRASAL VERBS

Phrasal verbs are one of the most difficult aspects for learners of the English language. There are three main reasons for this:

In many cases the meaning of the phrasal verb cannot be deduced from its elements, i.e., it is being used idiomatically. For example: a learner who knows that to tick is to make a checkmark may have difficulty in understanding the sentence The teacher ticked off the student for being late, in which the phrasal verb to tick off means to reprimand or to express disapproval.

Many phrasal verbs are polysemous; i.e., they have more than one meaning. The phrasal verb to put down has the literal meaning of putting something down on the table or floor. But it also has the idiomatic meanings:

* to make someone feel small, to criticize and humiliate them

* to kill as in the sentence I had to have my cat put down.

* to stop, quash, put an end to as in the sentence The police put down the riots with unnecessary brutality.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PHRASAL VERBS

Phrasal verbs are very important for learners because they are so prevalent in everyday spoken and informal written language. Not only do learners need to understand the more common phrasal verbs, but they will also need to use them themselves. If they don't, and use a more formal synonym, they run the risk of sounding pompous or ridiculous to native speakers. Imagine, for example, your friend telling you Oh, do desist from talking! instead of Oh, do shut up! or Oh, do belt up! or Oh, do pipe down!

Estar informados es muy importante hoy en día, mientras más información se obtenga mejor y ahora con tantos cambios tecnológicos es importante poder recurrir a otras fuentes de información, en este caso los blogs.

Las actividades que pueden los niños realizar en este blog que es uno de los tres blogs finalistas de los Premios Bitacoras.com 2011 son. Este blog más que nada te enseña las apps que puedes usar para tus diferentes dispositivos, noticias, juego educativos, entre otras como:
1. Te informa de las apps que puedes obtener al usar Android.
2. Hay una sección de noticias donde se pueden encontrar artículos relacionados con la educación.
3. Te recomienda y te enseña diferentes juegos educativos que puedes descargar a tu dispositivo.
4. Te enseña a configurar de manera seguro la cuenta de facebook.
5. Tiene una opción de gadgets para niños, donde pueden encontrar tablets, etc específicamente creados para niños.

Por otro lado encontré este 'English for teaching' que también me pareció interesante y aparte es un blog en inglés aunque también tiene noticias en español. En este se manejan propuestas para usar en el aula, links con actividades para enseñar inglés, etc.
Las acitividades que se pueden realizar en este blog son:
1. El acceso a webquests.
2. El acceso a diferentes artículos relacionados con la enseñanza del inglés.
3. Links e información que te permiten mejorar alguna habilidad.
4. Juegos que se pueden implementar en el aula.
5. Vídeos que te ayudan a mejorar la clase o a crear alguna actividad con cuentos.

Foros Interactivos

Creo que la participación hoy en día en los diferentes foros interactivos aparte de importante se ha convertido en algo necesario ya que mucha información de diferentes temas la encontramos más fácil a través de estos medios tecnológicos. 

Me parece interesante poder trabajar con estas herramientas tecnológicas y aprender a usarlos de manera correcta porque muchas veces es más fácil compartir información, ideas, trabajos, fotos, noticias entre otras cosas, con otras personas que muchas veces no están cerca. 

En la actualidad estos foros como por ejemplo el Twitter o Facebook nos han simplificado hasta cierto punto la vida, por la facilidad de compartir información y romper con la barrera de la distancia.
